Enabling

In order for maintenance, repair and installation work to take place, specialist processes are often needed. Our enabling services include, but are not limited to:

  • Pipe freezing: the safest and most cost effective way to temporarily establish isolation on a pressurised pipeline, without having to drain any liquids, which allows for work to be done quickly with as little downtime as possible. Liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the pipe, in a controlled environment, and once a solid plug is formed maintenance/modifications on the pipeline take place.
  • Line stopping: enables engineers to isolate a section of pipe whilst essential repair and maintenance work is carried out. This method requires specialised equipment to stop the water flow in the pipe whilst under pressure. A flow stop is lowered into the pipeline, with a specialist plugging head resisting the forces created by the flow.
  • MDPE squeeze off: temporarily restricts the flow of water/gas through an MDPE pipe, in order to make repairs, replace fittings etc.
  • Hot tapping: is a way of connecting to existing pipelines/tanks while the system is under operating pressure. The work results in an abstracted branch from the system while the remaining pipeline stays operational.
